What Is “Home Schooling” Dog Training?

Introducing Our “Home Schooling” Dog Training Service - Our Alternative To A Traditional “Board & Train” Program

At Family Pupz, we understand that life can be hectic (to say the least), and finding the time to consistently attend in-person dog training sessions isn’t always easy (or feasible) with our increasingly busy lives.

That’s why we’re thrilled to offer our “Home Schooling” Dog Training Service – our alternative to a traditional “Board & Train” program designed to fit seamlessly into your busy schedule while delivering the same exceptional results as our in-person coaching sessions.

But, What is “Home Schooling” Dog Training Exactly?

Our “Home Schooling” Dog Training Service is a unique program where our expert trainers come to your home to work with your dog directly.

We take the reins of your dog’s training journey, focusing on the specific goals and behaviors you’d like to address.

This service is perfect for busy dog parents who want their furry companions to receive top-notch training without needing to overly commit to regular class attendance.

How It Works

  1. Initial Consultation: We’ll meet with you to discuss your dog’s needs, your goals, and any specific behaviors you’d like to address. This consultation helps us tailor a highly-personalized training plan to suit your dog’s unique personality and needs.

  2. Custom Training Plan: Based on the consultation, we’ll develop a comprehensive training plan. Whether it’s leash manners, socialization, crate training, basic manners, or reactivity, we’ll create a strategy to help you achieve your goals.

  3. One-On-One Training Sessions With Your Dog: One of our trainers will come to your home on a schedule that works for you, and do 2-to-3 60 minute training sessions a week with your dog. During these sessions, we’ll work directly with your dog in and around his/her home environment, implementing the agreed-upon training plan discussed during the initial consultation.

  4. Progress Updates: After each session, we’ll provide you with detailed video updates, including what was covered, your dog’s progress, and tips for reinforcing the training between visits.

  5. One-On-One Coaching Sessions With You: While we take the lead on training, it’s crucial to coach you intermittently throughout the program to ensure that you feel confident implementing the skills and behaviors that were taught to your dog. This approach not only keeps you connected to your dog’s progress, but also ensures that you’re capable of maintaining and reinforcing the positive changes long after the training program ends.

Why Choose “Home Schooling” Dog Training?

  • Convenience: We work around your schedule and come to your home, saving you time and hassle.

  • Personalization: Every dog is unique, and our one-on-one sessions ensure that your dog’s individual needs are addressed.

  • Faster Results: With undivided attention from our trainer, your dog can achieve training milestones more quickly.

  • Stress-Free Environment: Training in the comfort of home helps your dog stay relaxed and focused, and ensures that your dog learns in the place that he/she spends the most time - your home!

How Is This Different from Traditional Board & Train Programs?

While traditional Board & Train (B&T) programs may seem like a convenient option, many dog parents report significant drawbacks. Here’s how our “Home Schooling” Dog Training Service addresses those concerns:

  1. Transparency:

    • Unlike many B&T programs where parents feel left in the dark, we provide detailed updates after every session, ensuring you know exactly how your dog is progressing.

  2. Positive Training Methods:

    • We do not use aversive methods such as prong collars, e-collars, or harsh corrections. Instead, we rely on positive training techniques that ensure behavior change is achieved without causing fear, anxiety, or aggression; fostering trust and a positive relationship between you and your dog.

  3. Behavioral Sustainability:

    • Instead of your dog performing well only in a controlled B&T environment, our training happens at your home, ensuring the behavior carries over to the settings where it matters most.

  4. Parental Involvement:

    • Unlike B&T programs that often exclude parents, we encourage your involvement. While you won’t participate in every session, our intermittent coaching sessions will help transfer the knowledge and tools you need to maintain progress after the program.

  5. Tailored Approach:

    • No “one-size-fits-all” training here. Every plan is customized to address your dog’s unique needs, personality, and challenges.

  6. Stress-Free Training:

    • Dogs often experience stress in unfamiliar B&T facilities, but our in-home training allows your dog to feel safe and secure, especially if your dog is anxious or shy.

  7. Value:

    • Many B&T programs come with high costs and limited results. With our service, you’ll see measurable progress without the exorbitant expense and the uncertainty.

  8. Bond Preservation:

    • By training your dog in their natural environment and involving you in the process, we strengthen the bond between you and your furry friend, as opposed to damaging that trust that can sometimes occur with separation-based programs.

  9. Modern Training Science:

    • Our methods are rooted in the latest research in canine behavior and learning, which aligns with modern, humane training principles.

  10. Comprehensive Support:

    • We provide follow-up guidance and resources to ensure the training translates seamlessly into everyday life.

Who Is This Service For?

  • Busy Professionals: If your schedule makes it difficult to attend regular coaching sessions, we’ve got you covered.

  • Families with Young Children: Let us handle the training so you can focus on your family.

  • Dogs with Specific Challenges: Whether your dog is reactive, shy, or needs help with a specific behavior, our personalized approach can make a world of difference.

  • New Dog Parents: If you’ve recently welcomed a new pup into your home, we’ll help you set the foundation for a lifetime of good behavior.
